TOPIC: Laptop Question

Laptop Question 4 years, 2 months ago #18930

I am not that good with computer terminology, but I will try to explain the best that I can.

The touch pad on my laptop used to do certain things if I touched it in the right area. I think it used to do stuff like making the web page fit my screen completely, minimize the screen, and I think scroll. For some reason it does not do that anymore. I have not touched any settings, I have not even been into the control panel. Where do I go to change those settings?? As far as I know, no updates have been installed lately.

This is a Toshiba Satellite running Vista Home Premium.

Thanks for the help!!!

I'd suggest reinstalling the drivers for your touch pad, and there should be a configuration program in your control panel that will let you chose what touch does what.

You broke the touch pad. Just go and buy a mouse for your laptop.

Don't give advice if you don't know what you are talking about.

Try cleaning the touchpad with an electronics cleaner
the contacts might have gotten dirty
(this happens with my iPod scroll wheel and laptop (Vaio) touchpad)

This is another laptop question but is not related to this topic issue so im just adding it to this forum instead of adding another one.

Here is my question for you computer geeks or people who know technology. What is a good not too expensive laptop? One that won't break too easily, can handle music, some video, very little games? What models or brands should i stay away from completely? I have been looking at various stores and found two models that i might be looking more into but im curious if anyone know any other models that could help me in my search.

Thanks

dell has some good deals going on. You dont need anything special. Prolly somewhere in the 6-700 dollar range would get u a decent laptop. If ur into music make sure the hard drive has lots of room. prolly 120gb or more. if ur gonna do any kind of video make sure the laptop has a stand alone graphics card and a high res screen. Find a specifil model on dells site and ill give u some advice.

as for the person with the toshiba laptop. is your mouse pad a 2 layer pad. do u have little icons in the pad?? maybe they light up in blue?? i know some of the toshiba laptops have this built in them and its just a matter of setting it up and switching between the icons in the mouse and just using the mouse normally.

Def do not buy a dell they are the most return computers/laptops to be repaired. Good laptop that has low rates of repairs are Asus or Lenovo and they have cheap pricing.
