Long Island: A beverage that is considered a "candy mix" to the bartending industry. The reason? Because when it is made properly, the taste best resembles a slightly fruited ice tea drink "with a bite". Further explanation: When a barmaid/tender creates the drink, they can also "flair" the drink with a choice of fruit to tack onto the drink.

fru-fru - A name used to describe one of the following:
1.) A beverage made with the intent to spruce the flavor (i.e; Mai-Tai, Pina Colada)
2.) A Beverage that has a fruit added to enhance the flavor (e.g; Blue Moon, Long Island)
3.) A beverage that contains an artificial sweetener that gives either the aromatic or flavorful properties hinting to fruit (i.e; Hypnotiq, Alize)

Ghost those bar tenders blow. Mine usually taste like a hodgepodge of alcohol and after a few I have a nice buzz going. I also have never had one with fruit minus the decorative cherry.

Anyone else like boozing after a really hard workout? Completely counterproductive, but man if it doesn't feel extra good.

Think I'll whip up a manhattan before dinner; those are always good for a nice starter buzz.

See if it's garnished along or inside of the container, it still is an enhancement.

With the heat I've been retreating to some old standards. Gin and tonics (got to be Tanqueray, why people keep wasting Bombay Blue Saphire with tonic water is beyond me, save that shit for martinis), rum and cokes (best has to be Sailor Jerry's and Cherry Coke Zero, you can mix that 1-to-1 and come out OK), and Steigl Radler (think shandy but with lemon soda instead of lemonade- crisper and more refreshing than leinenkuegel (which is still OK in a pinch), too bad it is kind of hard to find).
