By the time his contract is up, I dunno if the infrastructure will be in place for Rover to do his own show over the internet AND still get paid big $$$$. Clear Channel has a huge infrastructure in place (air waves, sales staff, etc) and they make a lot of money, and therefore can pay Rover and his whole staff some pretty good coin. If he goes out on his own, he aint going to make the kind of money he makes now PLUS he will have to do a lot more work. He'll need his own sales staff and so on to get advertisers on board. Rover is sorta lazy and would much rather just come in every day at 6:45 and talk until 10:45, then go home. His day won't be near that short if he goes out on his own.

So how long do you think cleveland will let him have roverfest then? 10 more years? wow

Why shouldn't he have Roverfest? It's a great thing for him to do as a "thank you" to his fans...they are generally well put together and nothing awful has really happened. There are individual cases, of course, but the reason Cleveland keeps letting him do it is because there's never any major troubles happening. There are police and EMS people everywhere to monitor the situation and generally, everything ends up fine.

Hugh, you bring up an excellent point. I really don't think this'll be the last contract but at the same time, I know he is getting SUPER fed up with BoMo and Keith which worries me a little. I couldn't see Rover doing online radio, as that is A LOT of work and money that doesn't really make it worth it.

I wouldn't worry too much about that. Rover has always bitched about management, even back when he was with CBS. Its a bit he picked up from Howard Stern who used to do the same thing....always rip on the people that write your pay checks. Its funny and makes you look cool for standing up to your bosses, which most of us can't do. If you notice, when Bo comes into the studio, Rover totally kisses his ass and won't call him out on anything. There probably is some tension there from when Bo used to rip on Rover prior to coming to Clear Channel, but now that Clear Channel is paying his 6 figure salary I'm sure he's very cordial to these guys most of the time OFF the air, its only when he's ON the air that he rips on them.

It just seems like people think he will go on forever and ever. Whether he does online radio or not, I don't know, but he ended his work at CBS, so he would have to end it with clear channel eventually. I cant see him doing radio for 20 more years as some think he would, at least not in cleveland. If he still wants to do radio, I'd think he would move to a bigger market.

He's actually said on the air how he's unsure if he would still do Roverfest after he's done. But if he does and he has the money, why not? I doubt he would though unless he gets a better salary. He couldn't pay for all of that jobless.

Let's not forget that this show is entertainment. It's not reality. There are characters and bits involved. The old "employee sticking it to the mean boss" deal isn't a new concept. Wrestling did it in the 90's and Stern did it before then. When it comes down to it...Rover talks smack about Trivisano and gets suspended for a week and never mentions it because he was told not to. He's a coorporate bitch just like all of us. He has said that he was going to retire for the last two contract signing. It keeps us on the edge of our seats and quite frankly, probably management as well.He talked smack about CBS, but admits how much he likes Tom Herschel and still talks to him.

I've NEVER seen a radio host take this many vacation days...not even Stern....shit, The President of the U.S. doesn't even get that much vacation time lol. If it's not leaving for 3-4 weeks every year around Christmas time or like now when he goes to Asia ,it's the constantly ending the show early to take a shit when he has the runs. How much vacation does ONE person need, esp when they make the big bucks and only have to work 25 hours a week and is 37 years old and not married or have kids? And Charlie is sooooo f'n lucky. I wish I could travel to Europe and Asia for free all on my boss' dime! And he needs to quit bein' such a hermit! Besides Roverfest and those Rochester shows you NEVER see him out in public. Charlie is probably the most public and accessible member of the show. The Alan Cox show members are out and about all the time nearly every weekend while Rover is being a recluse at his castle in Avon.

Is anyone else getting really tired of the extra censoring they're doing for best-of? At least the damn bleeps could be the same; this two-tone bullshit is kind of distracting.

Yes I am this bored.
