Before I get this started I want to say I have been a diehard Rover fan since 2006 when he was on WCKG. I listened every morning and hes the reason why I want to go into radio in college. But recently I can't help but see so many similarities to the Howard Stern Show. I also get that many talk show hosts copy other segments so this isn't a big deal; but I just noticed these similarities.

Here are some examples:
1."The Shizzy" literally is "News with Robin" on Howards show. Duji/Robin read the news and Rover/Howard give there opinion. Then Gary/Dieter give there opinion and then a discussion starts.
2. There always is something to talk about in the whole crews lives and yes it usually is hilarious....but Howard does the same thing for much longer with "The Wack Pack"
3. Rover ripping on Clear channel is the same thing Howard did when he was on FM Radio and he still does to Sirius.
4. When Rover burps into the Microphone....Howard does the exact same thing!! (This is a silly example I admit)
5.Rover's mannerisms are so identical to Howard. He rants on things on his mind (Howard does that), yells at Duji when he doesn't agree with her (Howard yells at Robin), and his questions about sex are the same Howard would say.

"Whens the last time you had sex" answer: "2 nights ago" Rover: OHH REALLLY??

6.They have those sound effects that I find frankly lame sometimes and well Fred Norris does the same thing Rob does for the show.

7. During interviews, he tries to ask the edgy questions to get the best answers out of the hosts. But when he approaches the questions, his interview skills remind me soo much of Howard.

Now I am not ripping on Rover at all. These are just some similarities that I just had to share. I am not a Howard fan at all...I usually listen to Rover, Opie and Anthony, or Lex and Terry so I share no bias for Howard. I'm just curious if anybody on this forum agrees with me or thinks I'm a moron for posting this.

I agree to a point that Rover is a little and I do mean little like Stern. But you can say that about almost any morning show because they all use the same formula to get ratings. Shock jocks follow a formula and if you listen to top 40 morning shows they have a formula. Except that Rover is not as cruel or mean spirited and the show "appears" to be more authentic. I was never a fan of Stern because he was so predictable. To me by far the best morning show is O&A.

That's what I realized Gsanti as I posted this that every shock jock morning show is similar. I hate Top 40 morning shows because its full of fake prank calls, Lame War of the Roses segments, and Celebrity talk. I agree with you that Opie & Anthony are the best show. I personally think Howard is past his prime and way overpaid. I expect O&A not to resign with SiriusXM by the way they trash them everyday.

Opie and Anthony are definitely not dead. They're a show on SiriusXM, and along with comedian Jim Norton as their third chair, they're hilarious. They aren't fantastic about staying clean enough to be on terrestrial radio, and have a habit of getting fired because of that, but theirs is one of the most honest shows I've EVER heard. I miss listening to 'em, but I just can't afford to pay for radio with everything else I pay for. More's the pity, 'cause their stuff is excellent.

Yeah O&A was (is? haven't listened in ages) a great show, but I can't really justify paying for satellite just for them. Plus from what I saw on their website it looks like they seriously ratched up the raunch, though that was a while ago. The best was when they were on tape delay here in Cleveland on afternoons; especially enjoyed the really bizarre feud they had with Maxwell, given the time delay.

I still chuckle at some of their bits; my fav has to be when they ran a test to see who could get a cab more easily in NYC; a guy in a Nazi helmet hailing the cab with a fascist salute, or a black guy. The results were pretty funny in a real sad way

When is O&A on? It's some weird stream now. Also, I'd say Jeffrey is straight out the Wack Pack. But yea you can't blame him for doin what works.

The show is very much like Sterns... it follows much the same format as Howards show. One thing Rover has done is surround himself with ALOT of people... think about it, his show has SIX people if you count Jeffrey, and all of them are a bit out of their minds. Rover realizes his life is pretty boring, so he surrounds himself with all these knuckleheads and the show pretty much runs itself. The latest addition, Jeffrey, seems to be non stop material for the show, and he gets it all for $10 an hour. Dumbs latest trainwreck of a life is also providing a lot of material. Rover probably does very little work in the evenings anymore because he knows that Dumb and Jeffrey are going to provide plenty of content for him.
