This link is a petition for change in the way that Ohio schools are funding, Funding for all the public schools have been deemed unconstitutional in Ohio over 3 times in the Ohio Supreme Courts, yes NOTHING has been done about it. Now its time for the people to make our voices heard. Sign this petition and share it with your friends. Lets show them that we will not be quiet about this. Any one from any where can sign this! You dont have to live in Ohio or be a registered voter. For every signature that the petition gets a letter is sent to Elected Ohio Officials and the US President, US Congress, and Senate.

Re: Make a change 11 months, 3 weeks ago #109800

the problem with the funding is that the rich preppies dont want to send their money to the scary blacks in the inner cities and the dumbfuck hilljacks in the country so they will always be behind, sort of like Ohio.

Such is America!
The great country people are dying to sneak into and stay in illegally.

The fix for public schools, send your kids to Private Schools.
OH, dont want to sacrifice and cut back in order to afford it?

OK... Here are some other real ways to fix your under funded public schools:

1.) Forget using a school tax - why make homeowners, property owners pay, for the kids of apartment dwellers & renters to go to public school?
2.) Teachers get summer break, winter break, spring break... Do you? Teach a few extra classez the short school year you actually work. Break a nail.
3.) Weed out the weak. Mandatory recerts. Continuing education. No tenure.
4.) Fund schools off sales tax not property tax.
5.) Hell, simply put in a Wal-Mart tax to revitalize Public Schools.
6.) Teach classes for parents how to be parents.
7.) Discipline children.
8.) How many Catholic School shootings have we had?

Private schools pay to play sports. If you dont have the $ to play, study hard get a better job then your parents and maybe your kids can play sports...

Re: Make a change 11 months, 3 weeks ago #109842

Lana812 I would like to know where i can make a cut in my budget to send my kids to private school? Since you seem to have the answers. If that's so easy to do I would do it. I work to pay my bills, I don't have extras, as a matter of fact I use the library computers because we cant afford to have internet or cable. We shop at save a lot because we cant afford to go to giant eagle or even to marcs. I have had the same 1990's van for 12 years and walk a lot because the gas is so expensive. I am currently attending the University of Akron to get my degree in Social work NOT so that I can have a better life but so that I can help others help themselves get a better life. I buy all of our clothes at the thrift store or yard sales because new clothes are too expensive. So please I would like you to tell me a single mother of 2 because my husband died where it is that I can make cuts to send my kids to private school? My children deserve the SAME education that ALL kids deserve to have in this country. I DON'T take handouts and according to our government I live in poverty. However I will not let this stop me from trying to make the education system fair not only for my kids but for everyone else that has kids too.

Re: Make a change 11 months, 3 weeks ago #109849

Social work to help other people? Sounds like you should rethink your master plan and help yourself. Its unfortunate you find yourself with two children you cannot afford. Living beyond our means is the downfall of society. It appears the big picture wasn't drawn in pencil before you jumped in right with paints.

Why have kids you cant afford?

You will never fix public schools.
Social work makes for wet shoulders but other peoples headaches to make your own seem not so bad.

I then suggest collecting cans and selling plasma for lottery tickets.
Better odds there then waiting for property owners to pay more school levies to let teachers teach 20 students at a time with 4 months off a year.

Again, dont worry about sports, your kids need to study hard and break the cycle. Maybe they will make wiser decisions.

Review points 4.) & 6.) in my original post.

Funding to clean out broken unionized public schools should come thru the tax you should pay @ Save-a-Lot & the Thrift Buetique.

Re: Make a change 11 months, 3 weeks ago #109859

Thank you for your kind words of encouragements LMAO!!! as a matter of fact I can afford my kids that's why I have them and am not living off the government. I do live within my means that's why I can pay all my bills and I am able to return to school. I have done many things with my life and as with many people out there their lives are what they make of it. I am out there trying to make a difference not just for my family but for others who cant or don't know how. See because not everyone was born into families of great fortune or hell even into families that care, but you see the point of the matter is all children deserve a chance at an education that can further them in life. I don't know why you keep referring to sports when that has nothing to do with this petition. It is about the education of children, but as a little FYI sports in public schools are not free.. you still have to pay to play. Again however this is about EDUCATION and nothing to do with sports. Maybe you should read the petition for yourself and then make a call for yourself on if you want to sign it or not. Do or don't that's your decision but you have no place to judge someone for the life they live or to think that you know all about a topic or situation when in fact you have NO idea!

Re: Make a change 11 months, 3 weeks ago #109860

Here are just a few FACTS for you about public school funding. Yes there is an over reliance on property taxes and yes something should be done about that. But how can you expect something to be do done if NO ONE DOES ANYTHING.. this is where the petition comes into place.

$875 million in funding slashed from public schools in the 2011-2012 budget and Kasich’s own budget shows that the total funding for education in the State budget is therefore decreasing education funding 11.5% from fiscal year 2011, followed by another 4.9% decrease in fiscal year 2013 from fiscal year 2012. That’s over a 16% decrease in funding over two years. That’s $1.28 Billion in less funding for K-12 education. That has decimated Ohio’s public schools’ mandate to provide a complete, rigorous, and holistic education to all children; even the state says that the ways schools are funded is unconstitutional in Ohio.

SO if the state would stop cutting funding the schools wouldnt need to pass levies that raise property taxes.

Nice to see somebody gets it!

Re: Make a change 11 months, 3 weeks ago #109867

Put your kids up for adoption so they can go to private school and move out of Coventry and you can pursue social work helping others. Or take outa large life insurance policy and leave the kids a fresh start making OPTION B look like an accident. Public schools will never change. Bet every one crying now about your Coventry school system voted down that issue last year that was on the books about teachers & pay & benefits.... Probably your Governors way of striking back to get even.

The answer is sales tax increase to fund your school system reform. This way even the people sending their kids to public schools help share the expense...not just the wealthy.

OPTION C: home school

Re: Make a change 11 months, 3 weeks ago #109873

LMAO!! that's about the stupidest thing I have ever heard!! take option B yea because that would be better then taking a stand and trying to make a difference. Wow what world do you live in LOL!!!! Do you have any idea how many kids are waiting for a family in adoption? I would like to live in your world where everything must be perfect. In the real world people do something to make a difference. I would never give my kids for adoption because I take care of them. In reality My kids going to Coventry is the better option then Akron public schools. As far as last year the community did pass a levy and if you would have done any looking into it would see that state took away almost the same amount of money so it basically was pointless. Its the Gov and his lackies that want to fatten their pockets, and unless we can get them to see that they are destroying all ohio public schools not just Coventry then that's when we will make a difference. That's what this is for. Again do some research and learn about what you are talking about so you don't look like an idiot just a little tip from someone who cares.
